Ganguro fashion is often defined by bleach blonde hair, tanned skin, and white concealer used as eyeshadow ("Panda eyes" if you will). If you are unfamiliar or just curious, Japan Society and the Museum of Arts & Design are exploring Japan's various subcultures, with a focus on Ganguro on Thursday, May 5th."Ecstatic Skin: The Evolution of Subcultures in a Global World" is an event that will explore various subcultures, focusing on ganguro, and how they developed through digital and social media means.
Admission is $8, $6 for Japan Society members.
