Remember that blinged out cupcake purse Lily (Charlotte York's daughter) had from that first Sex and the City movie? Well you could own one of your own. The original is by Judith Leiber, but these are by Timmy Woods. He has a booth at the Grand Central Holiday Fair, so check them out if you are waiting for the train or looking for a really nice Christmas present.

Extremely Late for an Important Date: Tokyo Rebel Tea Party 8/22 in Pictures!
This is long, long, long over due, since this was in August and now it's November with the leaves already on the ground (and we've already experienced our first snowfall!). So apologies to anyone and everyone who reads this.
In late August, Tokyo Rebel held its first tea party. First part of the event was a buffet at Cha-An, a Japanese teahouse in the East Village. The second half took place at their store for a live Skype conversation with Misako Aoki!

New York Chocolate Show 11/10 - 11/13
Designs from chocolate fashion show last year. |
What other plans have you made for this weekend? None? Well any plans made have been automatically overruled in the name of chocolate.
There's workshops, artwork, and couture chocolate fashion. And, of course, free samples.
I strongly recommend the wasabi-flavored or 5th Avenue Chocolatier truffles (which taste great frozen, I learned). Also get your tickets ahead of time, and perhaps a good book to read (the lines will be long, but worth it).

Japanese Fast Food - Kobeyaki
There are not many ramen places in New York City. Correction: There are not many ramen places that do not require a two hour wait. The other part of your criteria is that it is authentic ramen and not the Maruchan freeze-dried kind.
Kobeyaki seems to satisfy this desire. It is fast food for people who don't want a typical burger and fries with some Japanese fusion thrown in for good measure. They have everything from sushi to Kobe burgers to ramen. The selection is small, but it makes up in taste.
The ramen was good and filling, despite the small size. It satisfies your "I'm craving ramen" desires. I even started drinking the broth, which I never do.
It's a bit pricey for your typical meal - calculate drink and food and you've got a little more than $10 to spend. Factor in that all there food is sustainable and locally grown (which they mention on their website), Kobeyaki is alright for a midterm study break or, in my case, just dinner since you're not familiar with the Chelsea area.
It's too bad there's only one location (right now).

Artsy Fanart - New York Museum of Conan Art 10/31 - 11/3
If you have to time between now and Thurday (and a fan of Conan O'Brien) head uptown to time Warner Center to the New York Museum of Conan Art (or NY MOCA for short). In town for a limited time - literally a treat for Conan fans.
And this is literally an exhibit dedicated the tall, ginger-coiffed talk host. However for a short time, he's returned to his beloved New York City and his fans have welcomed him with fan art.
From night lights to color-by-numbers to hand-painted acrylic nails to a talking chair (yes a talking, orange chair which you can get your picture taken and get Conan swag), the MOCA is an exhibit that is for fans by fans.
Time Warner Center is a great location for this once-in-a-lifetime event, what with it's mall-like atmosphere in a Upper West Side location. That's why NYFW is at Lincoln Center, placing fashion at a higher level, closer to art. Each piece also had a QRC code so you can look it up. Or if you want to check it out the old-fashioned way, click here.
Onto the pictures!
